The investigators of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) arrested former head of police department Dmytro Holovin and his ex-deputy Konstyantyn Heyk in Odesa on July 25. This was reported by the local agency Dumskaya with reference to its own sources in the Prosecutor's Office.
According to the agency, the third-star police General Dmytro Holovin and Colonel Konstyantyn Heyk are suspected under criminal articles for embezzlement of property, abuse of office or power.
It is expected that a restrictive measure for detainees would be chosen on July 25.
The sources in NABU confirmed the information on the detention of Holovin.
It is noted that earlier the former head of regional police was searched. The case is connected to his declaration.
Dmytro Holovin was a Chief of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa region since November 2016. In April 2019, he quit the office.
As it was reported earlier, NABU finished investigations on the embezzlement at PJSC Ukrzaliznytsya in the amount of 3.7 million dollars. The materials of the investigation were shown to eight suspects in order to study them before drawing up the indictment and passing it to the court.
According to the report, suspects during December 2015 - March 2017 arranged the purchase of PJSC Ukrzaliznytsya of articulated products overpriced with the involvement of controlled intermediary companies and thus seized the funds of the branch Center for production of PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia in the amount about of 3.7 million dollars.
