During the tripartite consultation between the European Commission, Ukraine and Russia on the transit of Russian gas, the European party suggested that Naftogaz and Gazprom conclude two agreements. This was announced by the Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection of Ukraine Oleksiy Orzhel, Ukrinform reports.
"European partners have suggested schemes, according to which two contracts can be signed: on interconnector and transportation. European offers are based on a 10-year contract and 60 billion cubic meters of gas per year stable and 30-variable volumes of gas transportation through the Gas Transportation System of Ukraine," Orzhel informed.
According to him, the transportation agreements will be signed in accordance with European legislation. As the process of adaptation of the Ukrainian legislation, in particular in the part of the unbundling process, is ongoing, Ukrainian side will be ready to sign contracts for gas transportation by December 17, 2019.
Ukrainian side suggested to hold the next round of negotiations, as soon as possible, after November 11, 2019.
As we reported earlier, on October 28, trilateral consultations took place in Brussels between the European Commission, Ukraine and Russia on the transit of Russian gas to the European market through the territory of Ukraine.
The gas transit contract signed 10 years ago, expires at the end of 2019.
