Supreme Anti-Corruption Court has set a pre-trial restriction for Mykola Kalensky, a member of the Board of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU). He is a defendant in the VAB Bank case, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

Kalenskyi was put under 24-hour house arrest with the alternative of bail in the amount of 817,597 dollars. His pre-trial restriction will last for 60 days.

It is worth noting that the prosecutors insisted on taking a member of the NBU Board into custody. The court did not support prosecutors' requests and opted for a milder measure of restraint, obliging the suspect not to leave the Kyiv region, wear an electronic bracelet, hand over the passports and not to communicate with other witnesses. It was reported that one of the witnesses is Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine Yakiv Smoliy.

Kalensky's lawyers insisted that the accusation was unjustified and that his detention was impossible due to his age and physical condition.
