It is stated that the coin is dedicated to the means of navigation.
"Ukraine is located at the intersection of Eastern Europe and Mediterranean trade routes and has more than 2,500 km of coastline. Thus, there are dozens of lighthouses, each with its own name, history and shape. Lighthouses not only serve as navigation tools, but they are also parts of Ukraine's national cultural heritage," the statement reads.
The memorial coin Lighthouses of Ukraine weighing 16.54 g will be put into circulation on July 22, 2021. Volodymyr Taran, Oleksandr and Serhiy Haruki worked on its design.
At the top of the obverse there is a small State Emblem of Ukraine (a trident), the inscriptions 'Ukraine' (under the emblem) and '2021' (to the right of the emblem). In the center of a composition includes a stylized waves background and a fragment of the Ukraine's map, on the shoreline of which dots mark the lighthouses. The coin's denomination is at the bottom on a mirror background and the NBU Mint logo is to the right of the map.
On the reverse of the coin and in the center on the compass background, there is the image of a wind rose, symbolizing the right path choice and its happy completion. Around the wind rose and on the background of stylized wave, there are lighthouses and their names: Stanislav-Adzhyhol (top left), Zmiiny (left), Yevpatorian (bottom left), Meganom (bottom), Ilyinsky (bottom right), Byriuchy (right). Seagulls and the inscription 'Lighthouses of Ukraine' are placed above.
As it was reported earlier, on May 17, NBU put into circulation a gold memorial one UAH coin.
It was also reported that the National Bank of Ukraine plans to change the design of 1 UAH and 2 UAH coins. The reason for this was the complaints of Ukrainians about the coins quality.
