Kharkiv airport transported 230 tons of freight in 2017 – the most it has been able to transport in the 26 years of Ukraine’s independence. Such information was published by the airport, Center for Transport Strategies reports.
November was the most successful month - 31.3 tons of freight went through the airport then. The airport’s management hopes to break the 2017 record soon, as the airport now has a 1100 square meter freight terminal and it is able to handle 10 tons of freight hourly.
“We are capable of transporting unconventional freight too. Fish, cats, medicine – we did it all successfully in the year ending. Thanks to our services, some dogs and cats flew to New York, some exotic fish flew to Turkey”, - the airport’s management explained.
As reported, in 2017 the Lviv international airport managed to reach a passenger traffic of 1 million for the first time since 1991. Also, the Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air plans to introduce flights between Kharkiv and Germany’s Dortmund in April 2018 and between Kharkiv and Poland’s Katowice in June 2018.
