The government of Japan assigned 3.9 million U.S. dollars to support people and communities that suffered during the ongoing Donbas conflict. Shigeki Sumi, the Japanese ambassador said this at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday.
According to the official, the assistance will be paid starting from April 1 and is to be distributed by the end of the year.
Japan has been one of Ukraine’s long-standing supporters in terms of financial aid. Since 1991, the country’s government has assigned about 3 billion U.S. dollars for the purpose of financial support for Ukraine. The actual purpose involves a number of projects such as modernization of Bortnychi aeration plant in Kyiv region, purchasing police cars for patrol police of Ukraine and some others.
