IT sector creates 4% of the GDP in Ukraine, as 112 Ukraine reported citing President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko at the meeting with IT industry representatives.

“At the beginning of 2019, according to the statistics, there are 161,000 (workers of the IT sector,- 112.international) and in two years, if the efficient interaction and cooperation between the state and IT-sector specialist are present, there will be 200,000 specialists. 4% of the GDP is created now. In two years, there are enough grounds to suppose that it will 6,8% of the GDP. This contribution is the provision of the balance of payments, currency influx,” the president noted.

According to Poroshenko, in 2016, the number of IT specialists hardly reached 100,000.

“The number of the working places increased by over 50% in two years,” the president noted.

As we reported from October till December 2018, the real GDP of Ukraine grew up by 3.4 percent compared to the same period in 2017. 

Besides, the National Bank of Ukraine ) predicts the growth of the GDP in Ukraine by 2,5% in 2019.
