Inflation in Ukraine slowed down to 2.1%

In April 2020, as a month earlier, inflation in Ukraine grew by 0.8%, and in annual terms it slowed down from 2.3% to 2.1%. Such data was published by the State Statistics Service.

It is also reported that since the beginning of this year, prices in Ukraine have increased by 1.5%. At the same time, core inflation in April fell to 0.4% after the jump to 1.3% in March, whereas before that it had been at a negative level for three consecutive months.

So, in April, prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 0.9%, for clothes and shoes - by 0.4%. Housing, water, electricity, gas and other types of fuel fell by 3.2%, including gas fell by 11.9%, while hot water and heating price fell by 5.3%.

Housewares and household appliances rose in price by 0.4%, healthcare rose in price by 2.1%, transport fell in price by 1.3%, communication prices did not change, prices for recreation and culture fell by 0.4%, and prices for education , restaurants and hotels remained unchanged.

In March 2020, the consumer inflation in Ukraine made 2.3 percent, thus somewhat slowing down in comparison with 2.4 percent in February. The water supply showed the most condiserable increase in price, 26.2 percent. The water utility services became 21.6 percent more expensive, fruit went up in price by 14.4, education services by 13.5, alcohol and tobacco products by 12.1.

The most tangible drop of prices is observed in natural gas (39.2 percent), eggs (33.3), vegetables (14.9), hot water and heating (8.1), fuel and oils (7.7 percent).
