Industrial manufacturing in Ukraine falls to 2.5% in May

Industrial manufacturing in Ukraine in May 2018 grew by 2.5% compared to May 2017, whereas the figure in the previous month in year-over-year terms stood at 3%. Similarly, in March 2018 it dropped as low as 1% from the 1.9% exhibited in February of the current year, and 3.6% in the opening month of the present year, the State Statistics Service reported on Friday, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

The authority explained that taking into account the adjustment to the effect of calendar days, the output of Ukrainian enterprises engaged in industrial manufacturing went up by 2.9% compared to May 2017, while the growth in April 2018 compared to April 2017 was 3%.

Industrial output in May 2018, compared to the previous month, added 3.1% or 0.6%, once the seasonal factor is taken into account.

In the period between January and May 2018, the growth of industrial output was 2.6% compared to the same period in 2017. Within the segment of electricity, gas and stream supply, the output dropped from 3.1% to 2.4%. industry, whereas the processing industry decreased to 2.4% from 3.1%.

In May 2018, the processing industry raised its output by 3.2% in the supply of electricity, gas, and steam by 8.6%, whereas the output within the mining sector fell by 1.9%.
