IMF spokesman Gerry Rice stressed the need for decisive action to combat corruption in Ukraine and welcomed the launch of e-declaration of income. Interfax-Ukraine reports this.
"We highly appreciate the launch of e-declaration system. However, in order to progress, Ukraine should take further decisive actions to combat corruption, including the establishment of new institutions and transfer of the relevant court cases", Rice said.
He also noted the importance of creating in Ukraine of equal conditions for business activities, including the simplification of licensing, increasing the transparency of public procurement, as well as the importance of bringing energy prices to reasonable levels, the purification of the banking system, improving tax administration and the introduction of mechanisms to combat money laundering.
According to him, within the framework of these measures, the IMF is ready to assist Ukrainian state authorities on the prevention of corruption.
