As the IMF and Ukraine are in the middle of negotiations in Washington, the Fund does not bring up the issue of increasing the gas tariffs for Ukraine's population. Yakiv Smoliy, the Head of the National Bank of Ukraine said so in an interview with the Voice of America

"The issue of the gas price is not discussed because the government had previously passed the decree that regulated the tariffs. Besides, the current situation at the world market is quite favorable; the gas prices dropped, so we don't talk about increasing them for the time being", the official stated.
