High-ranked worker of National Bank of Ukraine busted with bribetaking

The individual was caught near the Bank's building; he demanded the USD 50,000-bribe in exchange for assistance in getting a permanent license from the Bank to provide currency exchanges

A chief specialist of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) is busted with bribetaking; he almost received USD 50,000 as a bribe. Kyiv Prosecutor's Office reported that on late Tuesday, October 29.

An NBU worker promised the director of a private enterprise to provide the license for currency exchange. "The pre-trial investigation found out that the NBU specialist demanded the said sum of money (...) for cooperation in getting the permanent General license from the National Bank of Ukraine to provide such services [currency exchange, - 112 International]", the Office said.

The individual was caught near the Bank's building, as he was about to get the money.

The man will be noticed of suspicion with a large-scale attempt to get a hand on another person's money.
