The main priorities for Kyiv’s budget in 2018 will be the city’s healthcare and education spheres, and infrastructure, the mayor of the capital Vitaliy Klitschko said, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
“Among the priority areas for development in the capital that are going to attract considerable funding this year are the healthcare and education sectors, restoration and construction of the city infrastructure”, - a message on the mayor’s official Facebook page published on Friday reads.
Besides that, Klitschko pointed out that despite the need to pay back debt, the city budget has been doubled.
“We inherited Kyiv with huge debt – almost $1 billion! In three years we have halved the debt. And we have raised the city budget. Three years ago it was $1 billion, whereas this year’s budget has grown to $1.9 billion. Finally, we have financial opportunities to implement changes. We need to fund healthcare and education sectors, restore the infrastructure that is currently obsolete”, - he stated.
In particular, the mayor reminded that the funding for the three priority areas was significantly raised last year. In the education area, the city continues funding the construction and renovation of schools and kindergartens.
