Russia's Gazprom has reduced gas transit to the European Union through Ukraine to 57 million cubic meters per day from November 1, Chairman of the State Company GTS Operator of Ukraine Serhiy Makohon reports.

According to Makohon, Gazprom is constantly reducing gas transit to the European Union.

"Since October 1, transit through Ukraine has dropped to 86 million cubic meters per day. At the same time, Gazprom pays for transit capacity of 109 million cubic meters. With such volumes of transportation, Gazprom will not deliver to the EU by the end of May about 5 billion cubic meters," he wrote.

As it was reported on October 18, Russian majority state-owned multinational energy corporation refused to reserve additional transit capacity through Ukraine for November.

On October 6, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that it is not profitable for Gazprom to increase gas transit via Ukraine, since transit through the Ukrainian GTS is more expensive by $3 billion.
