Gazprom buys all extra transit capacity of Ukraine for May

Russian Gazprom has reserved all offered transit capacities of Ukraine for May as Interfax-Ukraine reported.

All 15 million cubic meters per day were requested. Gazprom bought out a little less in April, March and February – 14.2 million cubic meters per day.

In 2021, Gazprom has long-term capacities of Ukrainian capacities in the volume of 40 billion cubic meters – 109 million cubic meters per day; 15 million cubic meters were reserved additionally during the auction – totally, 124 million cubic meters per day

In April, the Russian company pumps through Ukraine 124.51 million cubic meters averagely per day; 104 million in February, 119.5 in March.

Besides, currently, Europe sharply increases the use of gas. The global supplies of the liquefied natural gas, as well as pipeline gas from Russia, stay at maximum but it does not allow to start mass pumping of gas to the underground storages to prepare for the next winter.

Earlier, head of Operator of Gas Transport System of Ukraine Serhiy Makohon stated that Gazprom has been gradually cutting the volumes of gas transit via Ukraine.

Earlier, Ukraine, Russia, and the EU signed a new gas contract, which is to last for five years and it can be extended for 10 years.
