The granted money from the EU that was allocated to modernize two border crossing checkpoints in Zakarpattia is still not used. The contractors of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine received 30 % of the sum and ran away. Due to this case, the audit is conducted. Gennadiy Moskal, the Governor of the Zakarpattia Regional Administration reported this.

The modernization of the border crossing checkpoints Uzhhorod-Vysne Nemecke on the Ukrainian-Slovak border and Luzhanka – Beregshuran on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border will speed up the passing of the tourists for both sides.

According to Moskal, he strives for the opening of new 19 checkpoints on the borders of Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Poland since 2015. He and regional authorities appealed to the Government of Ukraine, different Ministries and State Fiscal Service of Ukraine but they agreed to build only one border crossing checkpoint.

Moreover, he noticed that the Zakarpattia Regional Administration is all out of its possibilities to open the new checkpoints on the border with EU.
