EU assigns eight million Euros in humanitarian aid to help residents of Donbas cope with winter

The EU decided to allocate eight million Euros for the purpose of humanitarian aid to residents of Donbas. The money is supposed to help the needy survive the winter temperatures. EUToday reported that, quoting Janez Lenarčič, the EU Commissioner for Crisis Management. 

"The EU is continuing to help the most vulnerable people on both sides of the contact line. This funding will help them withstand the harsh winter conditions", the official said.

The outlet added that together with these eight million Euros, the overall sum of humanitarian assistance for Ukraine this year made EUR 23 mln.

"After more than five years of conflict, the situation in eastern Ukraine remains volatile and unpredictable. Since March 2014, the conflict has affected over 5.2 million people, of whom 3.5 million are still in need of humanitarian assistance", EUToday concluded.
