The Secretariat of the Energy Community hopes that the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission of Ukraine will be able to certify the independent operator of Ukrainian gas transporting system during the next month as 112.ua reported citing Secretariat Head Janek Kopacz.
In this case, the documents will be filed to the Energy Community Secretariat in time and it will allow to finish all necessary procedures needed for the fully unbundling until Christmas (Catholic on December 24-25).
Kopacz also noted that the decision not to pass the underground gas storage facilities to the operator of the gas transporting system during the unbundling does not contradict the European legislation.
Head of Naftogaz Ukraine Andriy Kobolev noted that a great deal of work has been done recently on the fulfillment on the allocation of the operator of the gas transporting system during unbundling with all necessary processed and staff. According to him, the only thing that cannot be done by Naftogaz is the pass of the gas transporting system from Ukrtransgaz to the company as it is owned by the state. The amendment to the legislation is needed for it.
100% of the gas transporting system after the certification will be sold to Main Gas pipelines of Ukraine during the process of unbundling. Thus, the function of the gas transporting will be separated from Naftogaz.
