European Investment Bank (EIB) plans to provide Ukraine with 40 million euros. These funds will be used in order to take the necessary measures in overcoming the spread of coronavirus in Ukraine, the press service of the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development reports.
According to the press service, this decision was made at a meeting of the Minister of Communities and Territories Development with EIB representatives.
On March 23, the Ministry received a contingent loan plan from the EIB. The parties are negotiating on details and terms of cooperation. It also informs that the mentioned assistance will be provided within the framework of the current project "Development Program of Ukraine’s Municipal Infrastructure", which was opened in 2014.
"In the face of today's coronavirus emergency, every initiative aimed at the resource-based response to the pandemic is extremely important and urgent. These EIB loan funds will be used to purchase the necessary medical equipment. Ministry of Communities and Territories Development is already working with the Ministry of Health on the list of equipment that should be purchased for this money," Ukraine's Minister of Communities and Territories Development stated.
As we reported earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and IMF Head Kristalina Georgieva discussed an increase in assistance to Ukraine during the coronavirus epidemic.
