The representatives of the World Bank called the current economic growth in Ukraine restrained, with inconstant nature, as the economist of the representation of World Bank in Ukraine Anastasiya Golovach told in an interview for Zn.ua.

“Indeed, the current growth is rather restrained, and unfortunately its nature is changeable,” Golovach said.

She noted that in 2016-2017, a significant contribution was made into the GDP for a good harvest, and it is an inconstant aspect difficult to forecast.

Other sectors, which make significant contributions to the GDP growth in Ukraine are those directed at internal consumption. Yet, according to Golovach, this is not the best option.

“As internal consumption does not increase export capacity, does not help us integrate into global value chains, increase our competitiveness, our productivity, which means involving all the possible mechanisms which facilitate stable development. Certainly, the problem is not only the fiscal policy but also the economic structure,” the economist explained.
