EBRD appoints new regional director in Eastern Europe

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) appointed Matteo Patrone a Managing Director in the countries of Eastern Europe and the Caucasus, as the bank’s press office reports.

It was noted that Patrone to become  Managing Director on November 1, 2018. He will be responsible for the following states: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldavia, and Ukraine.

Patrone will replace Francis Malige who since 2014 has been the EBRD Managing Director in the region. He was recently appointed as Managing Director in Financial Institutions Sector in the headquarters of EBRD in London.

“The demand for our service is significant and we have something to offer. Our task is to continue working on the increase of competitiveness of local economies within its further Europe integration,” the message says.

It should be noted that Matteo is an Italian citizen. He started working in a London office of EBRD in 2008 in the department of business investments. In 2012, he headed the EBRD office in Serbia, and in 2015 he was appointed as a director and regional head of EBRD in Romania and Bulgaria. Under his leadership, EBRD investments in these countries made more than $2,3 billion. Patrone will assume his duties on November 1.

EBRD is the largest international financial investor in Ukraine. Since its activity in 1993, the bank took on total commitments on the provision of almost $13,8 billion within around 400 projects.
