Consumer prices in Ukraine in August 2019 decreased by 0.3% compared with July. This was reported by Interfax-Ukraine, citing data from the State Statistics Service.
After falling in July 2019 by 0.6%, consumer prices in August fell by another 0.3%, and in annual terms, inflation in August fell to 9% from 9.1% in July.
According to the data provided by the State Statistics Service, deflation in Ukraine in June 2019 amounted to 0.5%, while in May inflation was at the level of 0.7%, in April - 1%.
Core inflation in August was minus 0.1% compared with 0.1% in July.
Since the beginning of the year, consumer prices in Ukraine rose by 2.7%, while core inflation was 2.1%.
As we reported, in July of this year, consumer prices in Ukraine fell by 0.6%. In particular, prices for food and non-alcoholic drinks in July fell by 0.7%, for clothes and shoes - by 4.5%, for housing and communal services - by 2.3%.
Earlier, ex-Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman admitted the lower of inflation by 8% on the results of 2019.
“This year, I believe that we have all chances to get the inflation on the results of 2019 which is less than 8%,” Groysman said.
