Cooperation between Ukraine and Kuwait is of strategic importance, according to the Deputy Prime Minister Pavlo Rozenko, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
“If the relevant Ukrainian ministries and institutions engage actively, energy resources of the Middle East may play a crucial role in Ukraine’s efforts to diversify energy imports and to create a reliable system of energy security”, - P. Rozenko pointed out at a meeting of the Ukrainian part of the intergovernmental commission on Ukraine-Kuwait cooperation, the Deputy Prime Minister’s press service informed on Thursday.
Participants also discussed issues pertaining to the expansion of cooperation between the countries in the agricultural, humanitarian, transportation and infrastructure development.Rozenko considers that cooperation between Ukraine and Kuwait across different sectors is very promising. He pointed out that the national development strategy “New Kuwait 2035” introduced in January 2017 creates excellent opportunities for the enhancement of bilateral relations between the countries in the transportation and infrastructure sectors.
A roadmap for the next meeting of the commission was prepared at the end of the session.
Earlier it was reported that Kuwait may purchase AN-178 aircrafts produced by Antonov State Enterprise in Ukraine. When the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin visited Kuwait in November 2017 he announced that a visa-free regime for Ukrainian visitors in Kuwait may be introduced soon.
