Contract with Gazprom will replenish Ukraine's budget wuth more than seven billion dollars. Yuriy Vitrenko, executive director of Naftogaz, said this during a briefing broadcasted by 112 Ukraine TV Channel.
He noted that the new transit contract was in line with European rules and that Ukraine would be able to fully control its gas transportation system.
"Ukraine is fully integrating into the European system, the European market, so for us, it is a rather important stage in the development of the Ukrainian gas market and Ukraine in general. The parameters of this agreement are favorable for Ukraine because for the first time in the history of independent Ukraine we have a contract with clearly defined guarantees of Gazprom’s payment for the so-called reserved capacities, for which they have to pay, regardless of whether they pump gas, use these capacities or not,” Vitrenko stated.
Moreover, Ukraine is also counting on other additional revenues.
As we reported earlier, Naftogaz and Gazprom signed an agreement to withdraw all current claims and complaints from both sides. The executive director of Naftogaz Yuri Vitrenko stated this on his Facebook page.
