Only 59 cars were assembled in Ukraine during April 2020, which is 58% less than in April last year. All cars were assembled at the Eurocar plant, Ukrainian Automobile Manufacturers (Ukravtoprom) reports.
In total, since the beginning of the year, Ukrainian plants have assembled 1,424 vehicles, which is 24% less than in the same period of 2019.
In particular, in the period from January to April this year Ukraine produced: cars - 1238 pcs. (-22%); buses - 174 pcs. (-37%); commercial cars - 12 pcs. (-20%).
It should be noted that the number of new car purchases in April also has shown a decrease: Ukrainians bought and registered 3.7 thousand cars during that month.
As we reported earlier, according to Ukraine's Prime Minister Denys Shmygal, Ukraine is not in danger of bankruptcy amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
"Currently, the situation is not critical. Our current account deficit in March was 389 million dollars against 526 million dollars a year earlier. And with foreign exchange reserves of 25,7 billion dollars, we are in a better position. We also have about 2,3 billion dollars in treasury accounts. Thus, we are entering the crisis more stably than on the past events," he claimed.
