The production of automobiles in Ukraine in January-February 2018 reached a total of 1,291 units, indicating a 70.8% against the same period of 2017. According to the Ukrautoprom Association, a total of 1,085 passenger vehicles were produced in 2018, showing a 94.1% rise compared to the January-February 2017 figure, UNIAN reports.
On the other hand, the manufacturing of commercial vehicles fell by 38.5% in year-on-year terms. 67 vehicles of this kind were made, whereas the output of buses rose by 58%, to reach 139 units.
In February 2018 alone, Ukrainian enterprises produced 721 automobiles, which almost doubled the result of the same period in 2017. Particularly, the production of passenger cars climbed 134% year-over-year and reached a total of 606 vehicles, all of which were made by Eurocar.
At the same time, 30% fewer buses were made in February 2018 than in February 2017. The quantity of buses manufactured in February 2018 stood at 80 units, meaning a 50.9% over than February 2017 level.
Ukrautoprom has reported of a 63.1% increase in the number of automobiles manufactured in Ukraine in 2017, compared to the results of 2016. A total of 8,586 vehicles were made in the country the previous year. However, between 2015 and 2016, the number of cars manufactured in Ukraine dropped by 36%, to 5,200 units.
The nation’s largest car producers are UkrAVTO Corporation (Zaporizhzhya automobile building plant), Bogdan Corporation, Eurocar plant, Etalon Corporation (Chernihiv and Boryspil automobile plants).
