Bank Arcada is expected to build a 110 Kv substation in Kyiv’s Osokorky neighborhood by the end of 2018, the press service of the power supply corporation Kyivenergo has informed, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
According to the corporation’s press service, construction of another 110 kv substation in the Slavutych neighborhood is expected to begin in 2019. The total design capacity of the two substations is 252 MVA.
“The construction of the 110 kv Arcada substation in Osokorky was started in 2017 and its commissioning is scheduled for late 2018. The Slavutych substation will be built in 2019. The two new substations will provide stable and reliable electricity supply not only for the occupants of the previously built high-rise buildings, but also to approximately 30,000 homeowners in new neighborhoods,” the press service explained.
Kyivenergo pointed out that Kyiv’s annual electricity consumption is growing by 4-5%. Therefore, the issue of power grid development is especially relevant for residential areas with active construction.
“For instance, over 40 emergency power blackouts happened in the Darnytsky district of the city over the course of 2017 due to the overloaded transformers of the 110 kv Osokorky substation, which was built in the early 2000s. Connection of new consumers to the capacity of this substation is restricted,” Kyivenergo said.
