Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan said on Monday that at least two American companies expressed intention to participate in the development of river navigation in Ukraine. He said this upon the negotiations held in the United States, reports the press service of the Centre for Transport Strategies.
“The trip to Washington was successful… We had over ten meetings with Congress members from Republican and Democratic parties, we held talks with the authorities of Departments of Transport, Commerce, Treasury, of the State Administration and also with a number of American companies… About what we agreed on: General Electric and Greenbrier companies are ready for serious investment in the railway sector of Ukraine this autumn, at least two American companies intend to develop river navigation, build barges in Ukraine,” the minister said.
As it was reported earlier Poroshenko and the United States Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross discussed investment in Ukraine. In particular, they talked about expanding the export of Ukrainian products to the US.
Poroshenko focused negotiations on the opportunities for activating investment of American companies in Ukraine, as well as the development of bilateral trade, particularly in the context of expanding exports of Ukrainian products to the United States, according to the report.
