“We have fulfilled one of our strategic goals, we reached 1 GW of green generation capacity by investing more than EUR 1 billion in Ukraine’s renewable energy,” DTEK CEO Maksym Tymchenko noted at the wind farm opening ceremony on Friday.
According to him, 26 Vestas wind turbines with a capacity of 3.8 MW each were installed as part of the project. Each year, the station will produce about 380 million kWh of green electricity.
In total, EUR 131 million were invested in Orlivska wind power station, about EUR 40 million went for the services and equipment of Ukrainian contractors, DTEK CEO added.
The total capacity of DTEK’s 2019 projects was 740 MW. The launched plants would generate almost 2.5 billion kWh of green electricity per year.
DTEK was established in 2005 to manage the energy assets of the System Capital Management Group (SCM, Donetsk) of one of Ukraine’s biggest oligarch and Ukraine's richest man Rinat Akhmetov. The corporations are delegated the functions of strategic management of the group's enterprises that make up the vertically integrated chain of coal mining and processing, production and sale of electricity.
