$3,9 billion required for passenger rail travel for next 5 years, - Ukrainian railways

More than $3,9 billion should be invested to provide passenger travel by rail in the near five years, as the press office of Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian railways) reported.

“Our experts have prepared and presented for the consideration of the reforming committee the proposals concerning the further reforming of the “Passengers’ company” branch of Ukrzaliznytsia,” Anton Sabolevsky, the Director of the strategic development and investment policy, said.

In particular, it is proposed to distinguis hthe marketing function of the company. Also, it is planned to single out the sector on managing of the stations within the preparation to the creation of another Ukrzaliznytsia’s branch, which is to deal with stations’ administration.

Last year, the company lost $357,1 million, $214,2 million of which was the share of the long-distance traffic.
