The presidential elections are held in the unrecognized Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR). It was reported by "TASS".

In particular, 260 polling stations were opened, about 417,000 people have the right to vote. Local authorities have lowered the threshold of voter turnout from 50 percent to 25 this year.

Polls results show that the acting head of the region Yevgeny Shevchuk and former chairman of the local parliament Vadim Krasnoselsky are leading in the election.

The ballot also has an "against all" option. If no candidate wins more than half of the votes, second round will be declared.

The international community does not recognize the so-called republic as an independent state and considers it a part of Moldova.
