Russia called the attack a terrorist act

The attack on the Russian Ambassador Andrei Karlov in Turkey was committed in order to destroy the Russian-Turkish relations. This was stated by Ankara Mayor Melih Gokcek, Reuters reports.

Russian Ambassador Andrei Karlov died in Turkey as a result of an armed attack. The assassin presented a police certificate at the entrance to the room, where a photo exhibition was held. Turkish media reported that killer was a former policeman.

The Russian Foreign Ministry considered the incident a terrorist act.
