“Winter on Fire” gave way to “Amy” in the nomination “Best documentary”

Film about Maidan “Winter on Fire” directed by Yevhen Afineevskiy didn’t win Oscar in the nomination “Best documentary”. Asif Kapadia’s “Amy” won Oscar in this nomination.

On the eve of the ceremony Afineevskiy named “Amy” one of the most likely films to win Oscar for the best documentary. “Amy” is unique due to the main character and her popularity among youth”, - Afineevskiy said.

Among others for the best documentary were nominated “What happened, Miss Simone?”, dedicated to the singer and the fighter for civil rights of women in the USA Nina Simone and “The Look of Silence” directed by Joshua Oppenheimer about drug trafficking in Mexico.

Among other 2016 Oscar Winners are:

  • Best Picture – Spotlight
  • Best Actress – Brie Larson, Room
  • Best Actor – Leonardo DiCaprio, The Revenant
  • Directing  – Alejandro G. Iñárritu, The Revenant
  • Best Supporting Actress – Alicia Vikander, The Danish Girl
  • Best Supporting Actor – Mark Rylance, Bridge of Spies
  • Animated Feature Film – Inside Out
