The widow of the deceased soldier in the Anti-terrorist operation asks the court to recover $206 thousand and $210 thousand from Russia, as the website of Ukraine’s Judicial authority reports.
The demandant stated that her husband got blown up on a minefield in Opytne, Donetsk region while carrying out a task on the ground reconnaissance in June, 2015.
In April, 2017, Khmelnytskyi District Court established that the man died while serving his military duty. The woman reminded about Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine. She noted that Russia has to recover moral damage caused by the death of her husband. The widow stated that she lost life purpose and faith in the future because of this.
The woman applied to the practice of the European Court of Human Rights on the similar issues while defining the amount of the moral damage.
It should be noted that the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine began in April, 2014. The combat actions are being conducted between the Ukrainian Armed Forces and pro-Russian militants, who control the part of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
