A widow of the died soldier in Donbas appealed to court with a lawsuit against Russian seeking moral damages of $70 thousand in her and her daughter’s interest, as the press office of Ukraine’s Judicial authority reports.
The claimant noted that the man was completing the tasks of Ukraine’s Border Guard Service Administration – he was enhancing the security of the state border in the maneuvering force on the territory on Donetsk region.
“In July, 2014, while carrying out the evacuation of the injured colleagues near Shakhtersk, the husband of the claimant was blown up on a landmine of Russian armed forces,” the message says.
Her husband and another soldier died as a result, eight more were wounded.
At the same time, Khmelnytsky City Court determined that the husband of the claimant died on duty in Shakhtersk, Donetsk region as a result of Russian armed aggression against Ukraine.
The woman noted that the fact of Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, as a result of which her husband die, is known, so Russia has to be responsible for the military actions when Ukrainians are dying, so this country has to recover the moral damage in her favor, caused by the death of the husband and the father.
The court opened a criminal proceeding on the case.
It should be noted that the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine began in April, 2014. The combat actions are being conducted between the Ukrainian Armed Forces and pro-Russian militants, who control the part of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
