Water supply to occupied Luhansk from the water pumping station in Petrovsky suspended for non-payment of debts until December 1. This was reported during the briefing by the first deputy head of the Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) of the OSCE in Ukraine Alexander Hug.
He stressed that the parties were urged to resolve the situation long ago, but the decision did not follow, and people are now left without water.
"I warned last week about the urgent need for intervention by the competent authorities so that 600 thousand people in the Luhansk region were not left without water, electricity and heat. Unfortunately, this appeal was ignored. Yesterday, the debt payment period ended without any required interventions. Our observers have received confirmation that the water supply in Luhansk from the pumping station in the Petrovsky district has been suspended and that the water rationing system should be established in the city. It is early enough to see the consequences of this, but I'm sure many of those who will feel them are vulnerable older people,” Hug said.
