If the U.S. give Ukraine lethal weaponry, that is not going to provoke the Kremlin for any significant acts of full-scale military conflict in Ukraine. Kurt Volker, the U.S. special envoy said that in his interview with a TV channel.

‘Russia has been keeping a lot of its heavy weaponry in Ukraine; there’s currently more Russian tanks on its territory than all Western European countries have in their arsenal – in total. This is a huge military contingent. And there’s an even larger contingent located in Russia, near the border with Ukraine. Russia has the absolute right to keep as much of its military as it wants on its own territory. So this decision will not provoke Russia to make anything they haven’t done yet; this cannot change the balance of power in any way,’ Volker said, commenting on the possible weaponry supplies to Ukraine.

According to the official, sending lethal arms to Ukraine will let this country protect itself in case the conflict escalates. ‘Russia says it’s not going to move any further on the Ukrainian soil. If that’s true, the supplies of defensive weapons mean no harm – to anyone,’ he said.

Previously, press secretary of Russian president Dmitriy Peskov said the U.S. lethal arms supplies to Ukraine would increase tensions on the division line in Donbas and significantly impede the process of peaceful solution of the entire conflict.
