The U.S. State Department urged the Russian Defense Ministry to influence its subordinates who fight in Donbas to stop to hinder the work of the OSCE SMM. Heather Nauert, the spokeswoman of the State Department reported this on Twitter.
'The Ministry of Defense of Russia: Please instruct the fighters you control in eastern Ukraine to end violent intimidation of the OSCE SMM international monitors', she wrote.
She reminded that a man with AK-74 assault rifle threatened the observers of the OSCE at the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk region on March 5.
'An armed man using hostile language said in Russian: 'Leave immediately, and if you come closer, I will shoot', while continuously pointing his rifle directly at the first SMM vehicle', the mission claimed.
