The U.S. Congress has proposed recognizing Ukraine as a "NATO-plus" country, reports Voice of America

"A group of Republican congressmen intends to introduce a bill to recognize Ukraine as a 'NATO-plus' country and initiate a feasibility check on declaring Russia a state sponsor of terrorism," the report said. It is noted that the bill would provide Ukraine with military and diplomatic support, which is now needed against the background of Russia's military build-up near its borders.

Recognizing Ukraine as a "NATO-plus" country would ensure an expedited review of the sale of certain U.S. defense goods and services.

Earlier, Permanent Representative of the United States to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said that the United States will continue to prepare a response to a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, as all steps taken by Russia indicate such intentions, the press service of the American mission said.

"I wish that it is true that they have no plans [to invade Ukraine]. But everything we’ve seen so far indicate that they are making motions in that direction," Thomas-Greenfield stated.
