U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Ukraine William Taylor stated that deployment of the UN peacekeepers to Donbas could be an intermediate step between the withdrawal of Russian forces and the restoration of full control of Ukraine over the territories as Interfax-Ukraine reported.

He stated that former U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker and other well-known people worked on how to achieve peace in Donbas, including the introduction of international forces. Taylor said this option is possible.

According to him, such a mission should be approved by the UN Security Council, and by its decision, countries that have the appropriate armed forces could collect them and send them to Donbas.

As we reported, William Taylor stated that Ukraine’s Interior Minister Arsen Avakov asked a few countries to assist in the investigation of the murder of journalist Pavlo Sheremet.

Moreover, he underlined that USA suggests that Ukraine should abandon its plans to sell Motor Sich to Chinese investors and consider other buyers.
