The lawmakers of the United Russia party visited the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expressed protest against it. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expresses its protest in connection with the uncoordinated visit of the leadership and parliamentarians of the United Russia party to the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions. We consider the arrival of Russian parliamentarians as an element of the Russian election campaign on the eve of the September elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation," the ministry stated.
The ministry notes that the participation of Ukrainian citizens in the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation with Russian passports imposed by the occupation administration casts doubt on their legitimacy.
The department also called on the citizens of Ukraine living in the temporarily occupied territories in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions not to participate in the Russian elections.
The day before, the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine stated that there is a practice of recruiting and attracting minors into illegal armed groups in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
