The ongoing fights in Donbas may lead to the critical lack of drinking water, which affects not only adults but children as well; that, in turn, could lead to outbreak of infectious diseases. Afshan Khan, the UNICEF representative said that as quoted by UN News Centre.

‘This week, due to the escalation of armed confrontations in Donbas, two filtration stations of South Donbas water pipeline were damaged.  About 400 thousand civilians, including 104,000 children, were cut off from fresh water supplies on both sides of the division line for four consecutive days,’ she said.

The maintenance crews managed to fix the pipeline on Thursday, June 15.
