UN: Highest number of casualties in Donbas of last six months reported in February

The largest number of casualties in the last six months in Donbas was registered in February 2017. This was reported by the press service of the Office of United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).

So, in February 2017, 11 civilians were killed and 62 others were injured. This is the largest number of casualties since August 2016.

The UN notes that such growth was caused by the escalation of hostilities in the region of Avdiivka, Donetsk, Makiivka from January 29 to February 3, 2017.

It is reported that eight civilians were wounded in Donbas since the beginning of March.

In total, from mid-April 2014 to March 5, 2017, more than 2 thousand civilians were killed, and the number of wounded is estimated at 7-9 thousand people.

Earlier it was reported that the UN recorded 203 cases of sexual violence in Donbas, including 43 cases of rape that occurred after April 1, 2014.
