Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze met in Brussels with the head of the US Senate Armed Services Committee John McCain and the head of the Senate Internal Security Committee Ron Johnson.
This was reported by the press service of the Cabinet.
During the meeting, the Vice Prime Minister informed the American colleagues about the aggravation of the situation in the East of Ukraine, the intensification of shelling of Ukrainian positions and the conscious provocations of militants.
The Ukrainian side calls for a transatlantic unity in the matter of preserving Western sanctions against the Russian Federation, as well as the possible inclusion in the sanctions lists persons who are responsible for the seizure of Ukrainian enterprises on territories not controlled by the government.
It is noted that Klympush-Tsinatsadze thanked John McCain for his position during the hearings in the US Senate on March 21. There he once again supported the idea of giving Ukraine lethal weapons. Also, the Deputy Prime Minister thanked McCain for his personal efforts in the context of the settlement of the situation in Donbas.
