Dmytro Vlasenko - that's the name of the deceased Ukrainian serviceman who was killed in the Donetsk region on February 2. Vlasenko served as the Senior Seaman of the 503rd Detached Battalion of Marines. The press office of the combat unit reported that on Wednesday.

"Yesterday, February 2, near Shumy village, a horde (a reference to Russia, - 112 International) sniper inflicted a deadly injury on our warrior, Senior Seaman Dmytro Vlasenko. Comrades and medics administered the necessary aid, but one hour later, the doctors confirmed his death, as the wound proved fatal", reads the message.

Vlasenko served in the battalion for more than three years. Comrades in arms describe him as a valiant warrior, an honest and kind man.

The Marine left his parents behind; they reside in the Mykolaiv region, southern Ukraine.

Earlier, we reported that on February 2, Russian occupants opened fire on Ukrainian positions near Toretske, Donetsk region. One of the Ukrainian servicemen sustained a fatal injury, as a sniper shot him during the attack.

The fighter was taken to a hospital, but the doctors could not save him. 

The Ukrainian side of the Joint Control and Coordination Centre sent the respective note to the OSCE mission. The Ukrainian delegation in the Minsk group sent their condolences to the serviceman's family and friends.
