In Donetsk region, Ukrainian sappers have completed the first stage of demining areas near Hnutove. This was reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
Pyrotechnics cleared 12.8 hectares of land from landmines.
"As part of a joint project of the SES and the Representation of The HALO Trust in Ukraine "Humanitarian Mine Action in Eastern Ukraine" in the period from November 9 to December 16 pyrotechnic units of the SES were involved in demining a potentially dangerous territory with a total area of 12.8 hectares in the Hnutove village (Donetsk region)," the statement reads.
Pyrotechnics inspected 1,578 square meters and handed over 21 explosive devices for destruction.
As we reported earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine has proved to the world community its interest in peace in Donbas, but efforts to achieve this goal must come from both sides of the conflict. He also stressed Ukraine's readiness for a new stage of troop deployment and demining of new areas, as well as for the next round of mutual release of detainees.
