The Ukrainian army re-claimed another piece of the enemy-occupied territory in Donbas; according to the HQ of the joint forces operation, the military units advanced two kilometers forward from their previous positions near Zholobok, Luhansk region.
The Facebook post mentioned that lately, the pro-Russian mercenaries have been too close to the Ukrainian positions, so the Ukrainian military command decided to move the emplacements forward, thus creating the 'safety line'.
The respective operation took about two weeks to complete, no casualties among Ukrainian troops occurred over the period; the operation was strictly classified. 'The HQ planned, prepared and conducted measures to create a two kilometers-deep provision line. It was a tough task for the troops that held the defense lines in Luhansk region intact because the enemy constantly landed attacks and performed intense reconnaissance. Nevertheless, the task was completed successfully', the message said.
Last month, the HQ of the Joint Forces Operation claimed that the government troops released Pivdenne village in Donetsk region.
'The tactical situation of the defenses in the area of Horlivka somewhat improved. The well-planned and prepared actions of the reconnaissance of the 24th brigade allowed them to provide safety for the civilians in Pivdenne (Chygyri). A group of enemy fighters was spotted in the area in early April. They were checking if the locals were loyal to the Ukrainian government, showing their presence there,' the HQ of the Joint Forces Operation said.
The Ukrainian forces developed the operation plan and brought it to life; the fight occurred in the vicinities of the village. The Ukrainian side took no casualties; the enemy lost one man killed, and another man wounded.
