Viktor Muzhenko, the Chief of the General Staff of Ukraine and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine held a meeting with Kurt Volker, the US Special Envoy to Ukraine on January 23. The press service of the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook.
‘Viktor Muzhenko, the General of the Ukrainian Army informed the American diplomat on the current situation in the east of Ukraine during the meeting’, the message said.
Also, it is noted that the sides exchanged the opinions on the current issues of the regional security and perspectives of the development of the bilateral relations between Ukraine and the US in the defense sphere.
Marie Yovanovitch, the US Ambassador to Ukraine also took part in the meeting.
As we reported Volker plans to meet Vladislav Surkov, the Affiliate of the Russian President on January 26 in Dubai. They will discuss the current state of the Donbas Conflict, the perspectives and the possible format of the deployment of the UN peacekeeping mission.
Also, Volker planned to visit Kyiv and Donbas before the meeting with Surkov.
US Special Envoy to Ukraine arrived in Ukraine on January 23, however his visit to Donbas turned out to be under the threat due to the weather conditions.
