Ukrainian demolition experts finished the mine-clearing works in the area of Stanytsia Luhanska checkpoint. OSCE confirmed this information after the session of the Minsk talks group.
"The SMM saw at least 15 deminers of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine entering the disengagement area through the entry-exit checkpoint (EECP) near Stanytsia Luhanska. Inside the disengagement area, the Mission saw eight deminers about 50m west of the asphalt road cutting branches and trees. The SMM saw members of the civil-military administration of Stanytsia Luhanska and four police officers accompanied by a Ukrainian Armed Forces officer of the Joint Centre for Control and Co-ordination (JCCC) walk to the broken section of the bridge and back towards the EECP", reads the OSCE report released on August 21.
The next step in the peace plan would be the simultaneous dismantling of military fortifications on both sides of the conflict. Then, the bridge over Siversky Donets is to be repaired. Previously, It was destroyed in the military action. The sides actually agreed on it in early July, but the Russian mercenaries repeatedly breached the ceasefire and thus prevented the repair works.
