There are hundreds of Ukrainian human trafficking victims detained in Russia, who are accused of drug trafficking. This was announced by Ministry of Internal Affairs Director of the Department of Communications Artem Shevchenko.
"But human rights activists say that there are hundreds of such prisoners on the territory of Russia, namely detained Ukrainians. Their number approaches to several hundreds of people. Investigative detention centers of provincial Russian cities are full of such detainees, " said Shevchenko.
He stressed that Ukrainians who decide to move to Rusia are tempted by promises to pay (compensation for travel and communication" and another payments), and that is "real trouble".
"Then with the propaganda point of view, the Russian justice makes them victims of trafficking, who through deception or mistakes, have become victims. Authorities say these Ukrainians are the members of such big drug syndicates, high-profile drug trafficking groups", said the representative of the Ministry.
